Genetic Research

MGS research was set up to facilitate the identification of disease gene loci and disease genes by the production of better markers at the highest density possible. All current and past screening sets are available on the screening sets page. The most current and well-developed are sets 16, 54, and 101. Set 16 is our standard 10 cm scan with 400 STRP's and is the most functional set available. Set 54, an additional 400 STRP's, is used in conjunction with Set 16 for a 5 cm scan. In addition to the STRP's, we have continuously improved and increased the density of our screening sets to 1600 markers for an average density of 2 cm by developing and validating 800 insertion/deletion polymorphisms which makes up our current in/del screening set 101.

Genetic distance comparisons both male to female and sex averaged to physical map is available on the chromosomal plots of the ratio page.
