Unless you originate from Madison (about 2.75 hours by auto) or Minneapolis (3 hours by auto) or possibly Chicago (5-6 hours by auto), the best way to travel to Marshfield is to fly to the Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA) at Mosinee, WI (also sometimes called the Wausau or Wausau/Stevens Point Airport). CWA offers several flights daily from Chicago O’Hare (United), Minneapolis or Detroit (Northwest), and Milwaukee (Midwest Express).
Marshfield is located about 35 miles from CWA. Several rental car companies are located at the Airport. To drive from CWA to Marshfield, take Highway 153 West from the airport to a small town called Stratford, then travel South on Highway 97 to Marshfield. Highway 153 winds through the town of Mosinee near the airport, but the route is clearly marked by roadside signs. The entire trip takes about 40 minutes. As an alternative to auto rental, two taxi services provide rides from CWA to Marshfield. The cost is about $40.00 one way.
